Fading…

I would like to interrupt your regular scheduled program, with a bit of an interlude. There are plenty more updates on my time in the hospital and beyond, which are itching to make their way onto your screens. But for now…

The day the world went dark, something else unthinkable also happened. My dear friend Daniel texted me saying that all the footage he shot of my album launch party a year ago had become corrupted, and was no longer usable. The day my world went dark, so did the video memories of that magical evening.

But there was a glimmer of hope. Back in the summer, on one of those glorious warm days that stretched out so long, when coats were left on their hooks at home (though maybe somewhat regretted when waiting for the last bus of the journey home at 11pm), and beer gardens were a-calling, I made my way across London to Daniel’s house, and we buckled in for a day of working on the footage. I wanted it to become a video clip for my song, Fading. And so, we got to work.

I think we contemplated stopping at some point after a few hours, but ended up pushing through and finishing it. Daniel rendered it on the spot so we had a copy, and was planning to make some final tweaks.

But once the footage was lost, that render became our one saving grace. I have repeated the words ‘thank goodness we…’ many times. And though I can no longer see it, I can more or less remember what we created, and how proud I was of it.

So now, I am very excited to present to you, Fading, by Jen Eve! Video also features Mad Bamboo (Mum, Dad and Ian), Sam Page, and lots of beloved friends and family. And a hell of a lot of love and joy!

p.s. Don’t forget you can listen to the whole album, Dreams of the Lights, on all your fave streaming platforms! – Or if you don’t have one, try YouTube!

Hello. Have been thinking of you and your family and friends and wondering how Christmas is going for you, and then this wonderful email arrives. I have been asleep almost all day (!) and your voice is so full of life and beauty and I’m wide awake now and so happy to have heard and seen you today – and I think your Mum playing bass next to you? Thank you and wishing you all well xx

Oof, that sounds rough! But you have warmed my heart with this message. I’m glad I was able to musically hold your hand through some tough days, and so chuffed that you ordered the album! It is happily on its way to you, making its way across the oceans between us. Sending you love and light, a reminder that healing isn’t linear, and lots of healing and happiness vibes.

      1. Whoa. Fangirling here because I got a personal reply from my new favourite musician!
I can do a bit of screen-time now, and yesterday I started reading your blog back-to-front. I wanted to “like” and/or comment on some/all posts, but didn’t want to come across as some sort of slithering creep.
Your intelligent writing style, your sense of humour, and your “realness”, have me thinking, “kindred spirit!”. But that does sound creepy. And makes me sound big-headed.
Very telling of your lovely personality that you’d say, “that sounds rough!” when you’ve obviously already won the top three awards for “Rough”.
And I was born in England, so we’re both transplants and practically related. 😉
I’m off to get my 56 staples out. Current hairstyle: distinctly “Gollum”. shudder. How dare vanity rear its ugly head when I’m supposed to be focused on living.
I hope there are some moments of joy in your day. Some peace. Some healing. And something good to eat.
Thank you for all of this, Jen.
        xoxo big love,
        Lianne
