Hi from sunny Australia

It’s weird to think I was meant to be flying back home today. Who would have thought that a pandemic would hit the world and my airline would cancel flights until further notice. But no complaints from me. There are rarely complaints from me. A lot of people keep checking in, reaching out with tentative tendrils, asking how I feel about not being able to fly back for now. Am I ok? Am I stressed? Am I sad?

I appreciate the sentiment so much. And these are the wonderful types of people who don’t say things like ‘oh you must feel [insert externally imposed feeling here]’, they first ask how you feel about it in order to gauge how to react. That is beauty.

But I do have to keep reassuring people I’m fine. Honestly. I’m happy. I’m happy whatever. If there were flights I would have gone back. But there aren’t so I won’t. Either way, I’m having a great time! And I’ll endeavour to make the best of my time in one way or another. Whether that’s writing or playing playstation or reading or watching movies or writing/playing music or trying to work out how the hell you do latte art (srsly, how! Any baristas out there with any hot tips?)

I passed some of my time by being a guest on a podcast which was fun. If you’re at all interested, you can listen to it here:
https://100storiesbook.com/100-podcast/jen-taylor/
You should also be able to find it on all your fave podcast platforms by searching “100+ Jen Taylor”.
It’s about the importance of talking about cancer and opening the conversation, and the many things that come with that.
The podcast is a follow on from the ‘100 Stories’ book that was published by the host last year, of which I am story #100.
Ahead of the podcast, Helena put my section online in case anyone wants to read it. You can find it here:

By the way, I did make a flying duck in my coffee today so maybe I’m getting better?
(Note: it was almost entirely a fluke)

    Hi Jen,
We can’t do much about it, can we? Much easier to ride with it. We are supposed to be going to France soon, but that is on hold and will happen one day. I hope you are well and Mum and Dad are too.

    Hi Jen,

Long time no see. We were talking about you yesterday. If it hadn’t been for cancer we might have been next door again but the cost of travel insurance is more than the cost of plane tickets. How much does your travel insurance cost?
